Rosendo Mateu

Puig is an international company dedicated to the perfume, cosmetics and fashion sector. This one made a lot of talk about it in 2016, in particular for its takeover of the Jean-Paul Gaultier brand. Originally, it was a company founded in 1914 in Barcelona, Spain. Also, faithful to her origins, she has collaborated with the greatest Spanish perfumers and in particular with Rosendo Mateu. The perfectionism of Rosendo MateuRosendo Mateu has been a perfumer for 40 years. For years, he was one of the favorite noses of the Puig company, a real giant in the world of perfumery. Recognized for his perfectionism and his very personal signature, he has developed dozens of fragrances there.

What is more, he has always been able to respond to specific market demands for commercial purposes while combining them with his personal touch and his own creativity. He has thus worked for the biggest international luxury brands, always meeting their expectations with great precision. However, at the same time, he has also developed bespoke fragrances as well as those he describes as historical essences. Indeed, Rosendo Mateu is a fervent admirer of history. As such, he has studied extensively the history of Greek Civilization or the Roman Empire while making them true sources of inspiration for his creations. Likewise, he dared to take up the challenge of designing a perfume specially dedicated to an exhibition on an English painter. To do this, he spent entire months studying the scent of canvases and paintings, of humidity working on the material. His level of involvement in each of his works has always amazed his peers and has greatly contributed to his fame.

Rosendo Mateu’s personal brand

Eager to push its know-how even further, Rosendo Mateu decided, in 2010, to take up its greatest creative challenge: that of developing perfumes under its own label. Thus, in 2015, he released four fragrances bearing his name. In this case, these are unisex juices in which Rosendo Mateu is particularly involved, both in terms of scent but also in terms of design. Each of these juices comes around three major ingredients. The first contains bergamot, tea and sandalwood. The second is made from lavender, spices and chocolate. The third releases a breath of neroli, iris and white musk. Finally, the last one lets out vanilla, saffron and oud wood. The whole thing turns out to be very inventive but nonetheless remains particularly harmonious. As always with Rosendo Mateu, they are the fruit of colossal work.
